I had my endoscopy on monday. I had a another horrible vagal response to the I.V. Threw up and passed out. When it hits me it feels like I am dying. I am wondering if I need some xanax before I get these things done.

Anyone have this issue?

I had a similar issue when I had a bone marrow biopsy two years ago....I think mine was shock. I was crying, sweating and shaking. I didn't pass out though. I would call your doctor and tell them what happened. Sounds like it might be some reaction to the anesthesia??

Hope you get an answer...

I get pretty freaked out when I get stuck if they are bad at it. If you do think that you need a xanax I would talk to your doctor before hand and get it into your chart. Before my surgery I asked for something and they basically said no but my Patient Advocate said that it should have been okay. She said that sometimes if something is outside of their comfort zone they don't like to do it but if it is in the chart from your surgeon that will make it easier. I also practiced some meditation techniques after I had my upper GI and I used those to get a thru a couple of my potential panic moments while I was in the hospital. Good luck.

Yeah, it happens when I get blood taken or get an I.v. It is literally just a reaction to the needle. I guess I'm needle phobic.

Thanks for the responses!
